Also i spoted many species including Sri Lanka White Eye (Endemic) followed by some other endemics as SL Jungle Fowl, SL Grey Hornbill, Brown Capped Babbler, black capped bulbul.
This place is really unique with surrounded mountains. Also they have a track made for bird watching. Rooms are really cleaned, comfortable and spacious. Food is made to local cuisines and it is very tasty. Sally and Gerry are the owners of the place which offers you a dedicated service filled with unexplainable hospitality till you leave. Any one looking for a place to board, I recommend the Jungle Tide for you to experience.

The house was clean and tidy, the linen crisp, hot water on tap, the views are amazing and the little village had plenty of walks and things to see, specially the traditional bakery which we visited at 6.15am to buy some food to take on our early morning walk.
Jerry has some suggested walks/ maps which we used to walk over to the next valley.
We skipped lunch on both days as breakfast was filling. But if you do want to have lunch, you can order from Mount Royal or walk up there in 2min.

We have just finished a wonderful 2 week stay at the new Mulberry Cottage at Jungle Tide. We enjoyed lots of interesting conversations and some amazing food. Views from the main lawn over the mountains are gorgeous and we did a really nice walk called the tea pickers trail. We had a week to get over the jet lag and to acclimatise .
Sally and Jerry our hosts... read more are charming and couldn’t have done more to make us welcome. Indeed they organised our ongoing tours of Sri Lanka. With their knowledge and experience we had a wonderful tour of the island.
The rooms in this colonial style house are large and well furnished.
Meals are taken together in the large dining room and can consist of either western style or local cuisine cooked by Rani who will also share her cooking skills with you.
The pool is well maintained and the gardens offer opportunities to see large numbers of birds and animals.
Having visited the north of the island we returned for a second week to charge our batteries before our final leg of this visit.
The house is a 30 minute trip up into the hills from Kandy but it is certainly worth the drive. The views are stunning and it is a joy to escape the hustle and bustle of the town.
Transport is made easy by Sally and Jerry who can order either a tuk tuk or a car and driver for sightseeing tours of local places of interest such as the botanical gardens , the Temple of the Tooth, and the Tea Museum.

The house is beautiful- it's light and airy and enjoys spectacular views of the beautiful surrounding countryside. The cook is a star. We took 3 rooms and which were very comfortable. There are doors out to the veranda from each room overlooking the garden where you can see up to 40+ bird species. It was lovey to sit out on the veranda for early morning coffee or having drinks before dinner in the evening.
Their 2 dogs accompanied us on our daily walks. They seemed to have sensed which turn we would take and waited patiently until we actually took the turn. Then they would run ahead of us until we got to the next turn. Gerry gave us detailed directions for our different daily walks.
We all had a very relaxing 3 days and I look forward to my next stay. More

The meals cooked by... read more Ranni, were delicious, the beds comfortable, the rooms spacious, with attractive silk curtains and bed covers (I was in the green room with doors opening onto the verandah with spectacular views). I was pleasantly surprised to find a good size swimming pool so far up this remote hillside, with a shower-room and kitchen full of ice-creams and cold drinks. After the south and Galle, I found Jungle Tide to be a lovely, easy going, relaxing place to stay. Transport was on offer whenever I needed it and I much appreciated Michael, the driver, taking me back to the airport in the evening.
